Indian River State College Named Small Business Development Center for Florida's Research Coast - www.sbdc-irsc.com

To expand support of entrepreneurship and small business, Indian River State College (IRSC) has been named the host for the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) serving St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee counties. Delivering increased and more convenient access to a variety of services, the SBDC at IRSC will provide free management counseling to help small business owners and entrepreneurs succeed in today's challenging business environment. Business analysts will be available at all IRSC campuses, ensuring a dedicated SBDC presence in all four counties served by the College. The counseling is offered through a network of professional staff supported by a federal, state and higher education consortium as well as several partnerships. Low-cost seminars and training sessions will also be available.

"With businesses throughout the Treasure Coast facing tough economic times, the opening of the Small Business Development Center at IRSC comes at the ideal time," said Donna Rivett, IRSC Assistant Dean of Industrial Education. "SBDC business analysts will help business people successfully navigate challenges related to cash flow, credit practices loan packaging and many other issues."

Other counseling topics include business plan development, general management, funding resources, financial planning, acquisitions and liquidations, record keeping, marketing and sales. Area residents who have been laid off and others who are considering starting a business may obtain pre-business start-up advisement.

The SBDC referral service will also be available with current information on the wide range of business services provided by public and private programs and agencies.

IRSC is partnering with the Business Development Board of Martin County, which is assisting with funding of a business analyst in Martin County and the SBDC at Gulf Coast University which is supporting a business analyst in Okeechobee County. Many of the seminars will be co-sponsored with the Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) and the Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) both at IRSC, chambers of commerce, banks, colleges, economic development organizations and trade associations. IRSC is partnering with the Business Development Board of Martin County, which is assisting with funding of a business analyst in Martin County and the SBDC at Gulf Coast University which is supporting a business analyst in Okeechobee County. Main Campus, 3209 Virginia Ave., Fort Pierce, Building E, Room 123, in the Corporate and Community Training Institute (CCTI) office, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Blackburn Educational Building, R. "Duke" Nelson Human Development and Resources Centre, Room 118, 3002 Avenue D, Fort Pierce, Thursday, 1 to 4 p.m.

Martin County:
